The best CBD strains were selected for the CannaSwissCup.

On Sunday, January 16, a VIP jury preselected the best varieties of Swiss CBD cannabis. The 73 varieties submitted to the competition had been tested beforehand to detect the presence of nicotine, pesticides, mycotoxins, and synthetic cannabinoids. In total, 11 strains were excluded from the CannaSwissCup 2021/22 due to the detection of pesticide residues not authorized by the regulations of the CannaSwissCup association.

11 international members selected the best CBD strains

Members of the jury were composed of international cannabis growers and media experts and three consumer representatives from the three linguistic regions of Switzerland (German-speaking Switzerland, Ticino, and Romandie). The 11 members met on January 16 in the Absinthbar in Solothurn for an entire day.

The jury evaluated the varieties according to their appearance, aroma, and taste and divided into three categories (indoor, outdoor, greenhouse). 17 indoor strains, ten outdoor strains, and eight greenhouse-grown strains have been selected to be part of the “jury box” of the CannaSwissCup 2021/22, available from Tuesday, February 1 in hemp stores throughout Switzerland and on www.cannaswisscup.ch.

All varieties submitted to the competition have been analyzed in an SCC (Swiss Certified Cannabis) laboratory for their CBD, CBG, and THC content and checked for the possible presence of cannabinoids synthetics. All of the strains had less than 1% of THC and none of the varieties had any nicotine or mycotoxin residues.

Switzerland produces clean and safe cannabis strains.

Despite the lack of regulation, most of the Swiss CBD varieties are clean and safe. Since pesticide limit values have not yet been defined for cannabis, the organizers of the CannaSwissCup asked for zero tolerance in regards to pesticides.

In addition, the organizers point out that the problem of pesticides and synthetic cannabinoids is much more significant in the case of illegal cannabis than in legal CBD and that a rapid regulation of the cannabis market is necessary for the safety of its users.

Any adult residing in Switzerland can buy the box. In addition, the jury box includes a two-day pass for the CannaTrade 2022, where the CannaSwissCup Award show will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

All varieties are anonymized. The results of the analyses, the names of the varieties, and the producers will be announced only after the Award show by the CannaSwissCup association.
