Cannadaily continues with its series “Genetics of the Week” and introduces you to the strain… Gorilla Glue!
What are the origins of GG4?
According to GG Strain’s Founders, Joesy Whales decided to plant some Chem’s Sisters alongside a strain of Sour Dubb. Unfortunately, the culture failed. The Chem’s Sisters became hermaphrodites and started to pollinate the Sour Dubb.
Joesy Whales threw the plants away with the help of his friend Marrdog. But the latter discreetly recovered the hybrid seeds and decided to plant them 1 year later.
The initial disaster turned into a huge success. After several trials and the addition of a third variety (Chocolate Diesel), the seeds gave birth to the Gorilla Glue.
The strain quickly became one of the most popular strains in the US. According to GG Strains’ website, GG4 was the most searched strain of the 21st century.
While commonly known as Gorilla Glue, the strain had to change its name when the makers of the adhesive Gorilla Glue sent a strongly worded missive from their headquarters demanding that GG Strains give up all rights to the name Gorilla Glue, which rightfully belonged to the twenty-year-old Gorilla Glue Co. The Gorilla Glue became GG4.
Taste & Scents
The strain has a lot of Chocolate Diesel’s attributes. Both the taste and the smell are reminiscent of coffee and mocha. Gorilla Glue also packs a sour punch with diesel flavor. The smell is earthy and pungent.
Effects
The Gorilla Glue is an extremely potent strain, with THC level reaching up to 28% at times. We recommend new smokers to go easy with this strain as it has the potential to get you a bit overwhelmed.
What for?
The strain is recommended to treat pain, stress, anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia, as well as cramped muscles.
