GENETICS OF THE WEEK : GELATO

Cannadaily continues with its weekly series “ Genetics of the week”. Ladies and gentleman, let us introduce you to the strain… GELATO!

What are the origins of Gelato?

Gelato was created in the Golden State of California by a group of cannabis breeders from San Francisco called Cookie Fam. The strain is a cross between a Sunset Sherbet and a Thin Mint GSC.

The strain Gelato is a great example of the famous Cali weed, combining delicious genetics from the Cookies line.

Gelato is also known as Larry Bird. The pot community has named the strain after the basketball legend Larry Bird. Considered one of the greatest pure shooters of all time, Bird led the Boston Celtics to three NBA championships (1981, 1984 and 1986).

Taste & Scent

The strain has some orange notes and earthy notes. Its scent is strong, fruity and citrusy! Keep in mind that its scent is very potent and can be smelt from far away…

Effect

Gelato is a very well known strain among experienced smokers. With a THC level of about 26%, the gelato is made for smokers who like to blast off in the ether.

These Cookies genetics gave the strain an intense dessert flavour and… a mind-blowing high!

Gelato’s effect can almost be… psychedelic at times! Overall, this strain gives you an amazing opportunity to get creative. Alongside her cerebral effects, the Gelato provokes an intense physical relaxation without getting you stuck on the sofa!

Properties

Gelato is an indica-dominant strain which helps with mental and physical relaxation, treating acute pain, easing nausea and increasing appetite.

Gelato has an uplifting high which is perfect for people that suffer from depression. However, due to its strong effect, it is not recommended for people with anxiety.

Hybrid from Gelato Strain

GELATTI this hybrid comes from a Gelato and a Biscotti. Berner’s brand Cookies is currently producing a Gelatti strain that’s gaining more and more popularity. His offering of the strain comes in at nearly 20 percent THC and crazy amounts of terpenes!
