The European Parliament approves the new limit of thc on legal cannabis.
The vote was carried out on October 23, 2020, the result in favor; the new limit of thc in industrial hemp 0.3%, a big step for the industry.
The European Industrial Hemp Association has long been defending the proposal, included in the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The most important consequences of this new measure are the following:
As several studies have shown, there is no greater safety risk in hemp, which contains 0.3% compared to 0.2%, therefore it does not have a notable effect on the illicit production of cannabis.
Likewise, it has been proven that 0.2% of thc as a legal barrier is an impediment for CBD producers, since the amount of Cbd is proportional to that of Thc, therefore the development of strains rich in Cbd has been limited to European scientists and researchers.
Recovering the level to 0.3% implies substantial improvements in the quality and quantity of plant products.
