The captain on war against cannabis dead, r.i.p. Sheldon Adelson

In religion, ethics, philosophy, and psychology “good and evil” is a very common dichotomy.

In cultures with Manichaean and Abrahamic religious influence, evil is usually perceived as the dualistic antagonistic opposite of good. In which good should prevail and evil should be defeated. Like all good stories there is a good guy and a villain, today we are looking at the villain, or is he?

Who he was

If there had to be one man you crowned the king of Anti-cannabis it’s likely to be Sheldon Adelson, and for good reason.

He is a casino Tycoon Billionaire who made most of his fortune taking from the poor and misled casino gamblers, kind of like an anti-robbin hood figure. His net worth was 37 Billion dollars, which could probably end world hunger for a number of years, reduce suffering on a massive scale by providing better living conditions for people who are less fortunate.

What he did

The once 3rd richest man in America has unfortunately kicked the bucket and the ripe old age of 87. He stood strong against drugs spending large sums of money supporting the view that cannabis is bad and should remain illegal.

I mean we are talking about millions and millions circa 140 million to give you a ballpark figure.

Why he did it

But the question remains why did he and his wife have such a brick wall stance on the topic, especially being his health looked like it could have used a little CBD ‘pick me up’.

Sadly there is a twist to this villains story, back in 2005 he lost a son to a drug overdose, and his second son was estranged due to drug addiction, it could be chalked up to his generation being brainwashed in Nancy Raegan’s ‘Just say no’ and the traumatic loss of his son without a doubt contributed greatly.

While in the end, the right side won the war, and Sheldon was alive long enough to see it lost.

His philanthropy will live on, just not fighting cannabis. We should not overlook his donations to a number of schools, universities charities, medical research, and much more. Numbering in the multi-millions, so perhaps all good has some evil and all evil has a little good inside of it.
