Captain Cannabis was created in the 1970’s by comic book artist and filmmaker Verne Andru, the ultimate superhero .
He used the character in 2 early Captain Cannabis comic books. The first was registered with the Canadian Copyright office on 4/20 1977.
Some people argue that this is the origin of the first verifiable cross referenced proof that the date 4/20 was referenced with cannabis culture.
Although most believe this not to be the case as the origin was based on the time of day not the date.

It tracks lazy chilled out guy named Hal Lighter as he gets swallowed up in an extra-dimensional turf war over planet Earth. While trying to rescue sweetheart Marion Jones from evil’s clutches.
Intragalactic ‘herb’ transforms him into ‘Captain Cannabis,’ Hal’s superhero alter ego that boldly takes him where he never dared go before.
Much like other pop culture movies like ‘Jay and Silent bob Strike back’
The comics are funny stoner adventures following strangely named characters like Blunt man and Chronic. Who fight off evil baddies while Captain Cannabis a.k.a. Hal Lighter has to rescue his damsel in distress.
Since its creation it has gone on to make a number of comics and a movie.
I think the green humor has been with us for a long time.
It is easy-going light-hearted humor which once you have taken part in smoking or eating cannabis you can almost always directly relate to.
Classics like Cheech and Chong will forever be burned into our memories when we think of cannabis culture comedy.
