Artist Of The Week : JULIANO DIMITROV

Cannadaily is delighted to publish its very first episode of its series “Artist of the week”, a project made in collaboration with #weedart artists around the world with the aim to advocate for cannabis through art!

Our first incredible artist comes from Sofia, Bulgaria. Ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce you to… Juliano Dimitrov!

Juliano is a talented 28 years old professional illustrator. His professional career started as a 2D illustrator in the gaming industry ; an experience that surely influenced his artwork as you will notice, are pretty nerdy and trippy!

His artistic senses started to flourish early in age. In fact, as a kid, Juliano was always drawing. “My path towards art started before I could remember – this has always been one of my go-to activities whenever I could choose how to spend my time” he said in our interview.

Passionate about illustration, animations, music videos, Juliano is also an electric guitar player in a rock band. A man of many talents undoubtedly. One could easily state that this 28 years old artist is nothing but cross-disciplinary!

In the last few years, Juliano decided to become his own boss, a decision he considers “to be the best [he] ever made”. Since then, he has been working with his own projects, focusing on creating art that genuinely align with who he is at heart.

In fact, the art of Juliano tells a lot about his personality. When you look at the illustration of Juliano you think: that’s the kid who never stopped drawing, and got better, and better, and better at it.

Juliano found himself drawing cannabis related artworks around his final years of highschool, a period where he also experienced his first love feelings towards the plant. The artist has in fact been swimming in a cannabis pool since early age. “ I can consciously point to as an influence is pop culture – the music, books, shows and movies that I loved early in my life were all made by people who advocated for cannabis.” he said to us.

The artist believes that the purpose of art is to express, and most particularly express a strong feeling or idea that he has around a specific subject. “And you don’t need to look too much into the subject of cannabis to find some of the most fascinating things about the world that we live in. There’s a plant growing freely all over the planet, which is proven to be good for the human health and mind, is non-addictive, you can’t overdose on it, and it’s still forbidden by law to get in contact with it in my country and most of the rest of the world. So if I have to put a goal to the art that I create from my contact with cannabis – my goal would be to show the beautiful side of the human-cannabis relationship as best as I can.” Juliano added.

See, the man is a sensorial artist. His ideas come to him through feelings, visions, songs, music or even lyrics. Juliano always tries to find new ways to express his ideas, sometimes by learning a whole new medium to put them into life.

He found himself inspired by using cannabis and has developed a beautiful relationship with the plant over the years. “I never found cannabis to be detrimental to my work, quite the opposite is true. I look at cannabis as a misunderstood companion that I’ve had for more than 10 years, and I try to treat it with the respect that such a long time companion deserves.” he said. He considers cannabis to be the perfect model for an artist as the plant gives him inspiration and has infinite interesting features to explore creatively.

Through its very detailed and colorful art, Juliano raises awareness around the use of cannabis. The topic is very dear to him as he believes that “it’s upon the shoulders of everyone from our generation to raise the next one in a world where cannabis is no longer stigmatized.”. Cannabis enables him to relax his mind and expand his imagination.

Well, we couldn’t agree more, could we?

Juliano is now finalizing some big projects related to cannabis. He is currently creating product illustrations for an organic cannabis grower and manufacturer. An exciting cannabis-friendly project in which every original product has an illustration based on ancient deities related to cannabis!

Also, his rock band “Dumbfound!” will soon release an album on which they have been working for 4 years. “The visuals and sound of our entire band are also heavily influenced by the love we have for cannabis so the artwork and videos I make for Dumbfound are a huge part of my art and worth to be checked out by any connoisseur of cannabis. ” Juliano explained to us.

Two of his artworks were chosen finalists in the top 150 of the HighArtChallenge. A huge accomplishment for this artist whose love for the plant doesn’t need to be proved anymore.

What can we say really? Juliano simply just fit into the #weedart and pro-cannabis movement family. And we love him for that! We highly recommend you to check out his illustrations, available on Instagram and his rock band on Youtube.

Let’s keep the good work guys, soon enough, we’ll have our gram covered with our favorite plant! Yum yum!
