The first small step was in 2017, the law implemented the right to medicate with cannabis. But that right was only for a minority. This minority were patients with refractory epilepsy, they were those who were lucky enough to be able to start earlier with this natural medication, three years ago.
At that time, a voluntary national registry was also created. The objective was to facilitate free access to the oil of cannabis. Although from what we know, it is not operational.
The New Era: Green Medicine
Well, I do not leave you with more intrigue. This year the law of 2017 is changed for a much better one.
Now any Argentine citizen will be able to grow cannabis at home, and thus, be able to medicate with it. In fact, at the moment, there is no law that tells us a maximum number of legal plants per home. And not only is growing for own use legal, you can also make oils, creams or any product derived from the plant.
In this way, they eliminate the law that penalizes 15 years in prison.
In order to obtain the authorization, it will be necessary to have a medical prescription and to have the consent of the undersigned. The undersigned consists of registering in the Cannabis Program Registry (Reprocann), which will issue the corresponding authorizations.
“The patients will be able to register to obtain the authorization of cultivation for themselves. Through a family member, a third person or a civil organization authorized by the Enforcement Authority,” says the text.
Now you ask yourself, what if they don’t know how to cultivate, they don’t have more options to be able to medicate? Well, of course it is!
Apart from legalizing self-cultivation, the government authorizes the sale of them and being able to import them.
Production and legal sale
The sale and promotion of public production will be carried out through the laboratories in the National Agency, which are public laboratories. Later, it will be distributed through the National Bank of Oncology Drugs and pharmacies.
In Argentina, it is possible to import and buy medicinal specialties manufactured in the country. In addition, people who do not have social work or private insurance will also be able to access preparations and be able to buy them at any pharmacy.

For the moment, North America is practically green, in the EU we have won with the new changes, in Asia the changes are going at 1000 km per hour, Mexico is one step away from legalization and South America is pleasantly surprising us.
