The Federation of Cannabis Associations of Catalonia summoned its member associations and technical subsidiaries to establish the lines of work for the next four years.
Catalonia is once again in our news. The last meeting of CatFAC, held on February 11, has served for the federation to outline its strategy and establish new projects for the next four years in addition to electing a new technical committee.
For seven years, CatFAC has promoted the cannabis movement in Catalonia towards regulation, with campaigns to promote a change in drug policies, designing transparency laws on cultivation and distribution or enhancing its visibility in the media.
The new committee, chosen at this latest congress, will continue to build on a strong foundation. During these years, the hundreds of people who have given life to the organization have managed to materialize municipal regulations in the form of urban plans and the approval in the Parliament of Catalonia, later suspended by the Constitutional Court, of the Green Rose initiative.
As a member of ConFac (Confederation of Cannabis Associations of Spain), with many other associations and federations, they have provided support in court battles and legislative proposals and has promoted multiple campaigns for the regularization, normalization and rights of cannabis consumers .
As stated by its members, the main purpose of the objectives set by the organization is “to promote and achieve a law that comprehensively regulates the operation of Associations of cannabis users”. Although their actions go beyond the cannabis sphere, together with other groups, they ultimately seek to advance civil rights and the well-being of citizens.
After this III Congress they have published Newton’s Laws for the Movement: “It is time to apply the force of everyone to change the current status [of cannabis], and for this it is necessary to act. We are clear about it, the best strength comes from within ”, concludes the statement.
