ARTIST OF THE WEEK : QUIMPI

Cannadaily continues with its serie “Artist of the week” with an amazing #weedart artist from Chascomús, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ladies and gentleman, let us introduce you to… QUIMPI!

Quimpi is a 32 years old freelance designer passionate about art and digital drawing!

His appetite for arts came pretty early, mainly through music as Julian studied guitar at a classical music conservatory when he was a kid. At the age of 17, he moved to the city of La Plata to study law. He quickly realized that this choice of career wasn’t going to fulfill him and he found himself enrolling in the Faculty of Arts, in Design and Visual Communication.

This change of path transformed the artist who confessed to us : “From this moment, everything changed, my way of thinking, of being, of feeling”.

Quimpi considers himself a very restless person. In fact, the man is always learning new things and trying to apply them in all areas of his life. He likes to combine 2D animation with his own music as well as using humor to express his art.

“Humor for me is a fundamental pillar for happiness, that is why you will always see me with a smile on my face, or almost always.” he said to us.

With its modulated lines, colors and simple backgrounds, the art of Quimpy is in fact very up-lifting. Furthermore, it has a double purpose. It doesn’t only gets a smile on your face but also raises awareness about the plant and its benefits.

When he was younger, Quimpi always talked with friends about creating a cannabis art movement. In 2018, Quimpi decided to participate in the INKTOBER 2018 edition where he chose Marijuana as a theme for his artworks.

The artist is in fact a huge fan of the Green Lady both personally and professionally. “Marijuana helps me relax, makes me think clearly and be focused. I cultivate cannabis for myself as a hobby. When creating something (art), cannabis helps me to enjoy even more that moment, to be more aware of the processes and methods that I use in creation.” he explained.

In most countries, cannabis still has a bad reputation. In Argentina, the country where Julian is from, the mindset is starting to change, however very slowly. The artist wants his art to inspire people to look at the plant differently. The man advocates for a collective change of mindset as well as the legalization of both cultivation and use of cannabis.

Quimpi is currently studying 3D animations and programs. His plan is to be able to create artworks made out of 3D animations with his music in the background.

Well, well, well… we can’t wait to see what you have in mind! Keep posted guys, soon enough, you’ll be watching a little #weedporn freshly created by the amazing Quimpi!
