La police n\u00e9o-z\u00e9landaise a d\u00e9pens\u00e9 plus de 600 000 dollars pour relancer un programme national d'\u00e9radication du cannabis. Il y a un an, en janvier 2021, la m\u00eame op\u00e9ration avait \u00e9t\u00e9 annul\u00e9e puisque les chefs des 12 districts de police du pays ne soutenaient plus le programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le programme vise \u00e0 cibler les op\u00e9rations de cannabis \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six districts de police sont concern\u00e9s par la relance de l'op\u00e9ration d'\u00e9radication. Les six autres districts ne participeront pas au programme national mais continueront de g\u00e9rer des projets locaux d'\u00e9radication du cannabis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le d\u00e9partement de police a publi\u00e9 un briefing en d\u00e9cembre 2021 d\u00e9taillant ce programme. Le programme, appel\u00e9 Operation Emerald, a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en janvier et se poursuivra jusqu'au mois prochain. Le projet Operation Emerald vise \u00e0 cibler des op\u00e9rations culturelles \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"La gestion d'une op\u00e9ration coordonn\u00e9e au niveau national permet de gagner en efficacit\u00e9 en termes de n\u00e9gociation de contrats d'avions et d'h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res, de d\u00e9ploiement de personnel, de formation du personnel et d'administration du budget\", est-il \u00e9crit dans le briefing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le budget de fonctionnement initial du programme d'\u00e9radication \u00e9tait de 575 000$ allou\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce au financement de base de la police. Le budget est depuis pass\u00e9 \u00e0 635 000$ en raison de la hausse des co\u00fbts, a indiqu\u00e9 la police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La d\u00e9put\u00e9e du Parti vert Chl\u00f6e Swarbrick, qui soutient la l\u00e9galisation du cannabis en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la seule \"saisie r\u00e9ussie\" effectu\u00e9e par la police a \u00e9t\u00e9 de d\u00e9couvrir trois plantes cultiv\u00e9es par un couple \u00e0 Coromandel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le couple a expliqu\u00e9 que la police a fait voler un h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re au-dessus de leur propri\u00e9t\u00e9 et a saisi leurs plantes pendant qu'ils d\u00eenaient.
