El mi\u00e9rcoles pasado, el presidente de la Rep\u00fablica de Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, firm\u00f3 la ley sobre el cannabis medicinal y el c\u00e1\u00f1amo industrial tras la aprobaci\u00f3n final de los diputados. El presidente Carlos Alvarado hab\u00eda dado previamente su veto ya que no apoyaba el autocultivo de cannabis para los pacientes. La legislaci\u00f3n final fue aprobada con 35 votos a favor y 22 en contra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La legisladora Zoila Rosa Volio dijo que el proyecto de ley conserva elementos esenciales de la legislaci\u00f3n original.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEl veto no afect\u00f3 elementos clave de esta propuesta, que traer\u00e1 inversiones, generar\u00e1 empleos, permitir\u00e1 el acceso a los mercados y reactivar\u00e1 el sector agr\u00edcola\u201d, dijo Volio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carlos Alvarado expres\u00f3 su apoyo en un comunicado: \u201cQuiero decir que apoyo el cannabis medicinal. Estuvimos de acuerdo con un veto parcial y recomendamos tres modificaciones al texto\u201d que fueron suficientes para finalmente adoptar una versi\u00f3n restringida de la primera propuesta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El presidente se\u00f1al\u00f3 que este proyecto de ley representa puntos muy positivos para el pa\u00eds: \u201cAliviar el dolor cr\u00f3nico y brindar tratamiento a quienes lo necesiten, y diversificar las opciones de salud para los pacientes. Es un gran objetivo, y esta ley lo cumple. El otro gran objetivo de esta ley es que se pueda industrializar el c\u00e1\u00f1amo, una actividad que podr\u00eda revitalizar nuestra agricultura, especialmente nuestras \u00e1reas rurales, con cultura y una nueva industria que podr\u00eda surgir de ella\u201d, agreg\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCelebro la aprobaci\u00f3n definitiva de la Ley de C\u00e1\u00f1amo y Cannabis que sigue al veto, de esta manera se generar\u00e1n oportunidades de empleo y tratamientos alternativos para muchos pacientes con enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas\u201d, dijo Silvia Hern\u00e1ndez, Presidenta de la Asamblea Legislativa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El texto debe publicarse ahora en el Diario Oficial para que entre en vigor. La ley lleg\u00f3 casi tres a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de que el proyecto de ley empez\u00f3 en la Asamblea Legislativa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
La ley permitir\u00e1 a las autoridades costarricenses otorgar licencias para la producci\u00f3n de cannabis con fines m\u00e9dicos. La ley tambi\u00e9n legaliza el cultivo y la producci\u00f3n industrial de c\u00e1\u00f1amo.
