Se atribuyen 11,8 millones de muertes<\/a> al consumo de sustancias cada a\u00f1o; pero analicemos este desglose entre muertes directas (por sobredosis de drogas) y muertes indirectas por un mayor riesgo de diversas enfermedades y lesiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La mayor\u00eda de muertes indirectas son el resultado de fumar, lo que aumenta el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n y otros, enfermedades card\u00edacas, derrames cerebrales y diabetes; y del alcohol y otras drogas ilegales, que aumentan el riesgo de suicidio, hepatitis y otras enfermedades hep\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
