With 483 known compounds i wonder which one will become the next big thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patents on nature? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A common avenue pharmaceutical companies are looking at right now is how they can patent and produce cannabis-derived products. Which is not so easy considering some of the rules when it comes to putting a patent on something. You cannot patent a discovery or nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cannabis plant, with its inherent chemical constituents, occurs naturally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So a person would not be able to patent the naturally occurring plant or the chemicals found naturally in the product. However, that person would be free to patent methods of extracting or using chemicals from the plant. Those methods of making synthetic versions of those chemicals or making other chemicals derived from those natural chemicals. And this is where we find ourselves today with many companies around the world scrambling to do just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel was one of the pioneers of cannabis research. An early adopter of medical cannabis, and one of the few countries that has embraced of medical cannabis imports and exports. Nevertheless, Israel still lags behind countries like Canada that have legalized cannabis for recreational purposes. But that’s changing. States the attorney Griffen \u0010Thorne.
